Changing Default Settings on Omnifocus
I determined that Omnifocus is taking up alot of diskspace for backups. It turns out that when Omnifocus is open, it will back up every two hours. In addition, it will automatically save 100 backups.
To change these defaults, you can do the following:
It is indeed possible to lower the limit for the number of backups OmniFocus will keep at one time. This is hidden preference is controlled using the following URL:
omnifocus:///change-preference?AutomaticBackupLimit=100
Just paste that URL into Safari (or web browser of your choice), and change the number at the end to what you want. You’ll get a popup notification confirming the change you’ve made. After changing the limit on how many backups are kept, you may also want to adjust how often these backups are generated. By default OmniFocus backs up every 2 hours while the app is open. This URL to change this is as follows (the value for time is entered using minutes):
omnifocus:///change-preference?AutomaticBackupMinutes=120
One last note, if you’re database is getting larger and larger, you may want to look at what can be done to reduce it’s size — namely Archiving Old Data and culling Attachments. This support article from our website describes what this looks like: <https://support.omnigroup.com/reduce-size-omnifocus-database>
